Hello,
I've been created a small windows application in order to keep my RugbySpirit data. Even if I have not the time I want to, the project grows slowly.
Currently there is very few stuff, but if someone want to test it...
It is design for Windows only. It is in english. It needs the RugbySpirit website to be turn in english.

I'll try to make it online tomorrow. I'll also put some explanation on this forum.

Here is a zip file (see Attachment at the bottom of the post). Just decompress it and launch the "RSManager.exe" (or "RSManager") file. It is developped with .NET, then I think the .NET framework has to be installed in your computer (as it's my first .NET application, I'm not used with .NET deployment). Now, how it works ? Files- RSManager.exe : the application file to launch
- RSManager.exe.config : config file... I will add more things here to allow customizing the app
- RSTeamData.xml : your team data. This file will grow according to your team history.
- RSTeamData.xml-201202021734129218... : team data bakup... just to prevent the worst... can be deleted as you want.
Main window- menu file->open : load the team data (no automatic load at launch for now)
- menu file->save : save the team data (nothing automatic : it has to be processed to save history)
- menu file->Import copy / paste : see below
- menu file->Import Web Access : see below
- menu file ->quit : just guess
Import copy / pasteImport data from RS website using clipboard : 1) open the "players" page, or a "player" detail page on the site (RS website has to be set in english langage) 2) select all and copy to the clipboard (ctrl-A+ctrl-C) 3) go to the RS manager import copy/paste window and only clic on "import" 4) the clipbord is processed and a small comment is shown in this window ("close" to close the window) Import Web AccessIt use an internal web browser in order to retrieve data from RS website. 1) click on "import" to begin import. 2) when the RS website login page appears, just log in (RS website has to be set in english langage) => the login is direct from RS website. The application never get the password. 3) pages are download slowly ("team", "players" and "player" pages are read). Why so slow ? Just for the health of the RS website server. 4) "finished" is written at the bottom of the screen. ("close" to close the window) Players windowCurrently the only usefull window Lot of improvment to do, but there's the seed. Attachments:

Great. Thanks gillou. I will post an announcement about your tool on the website. Don't you think it is a little early ? I'm waiting for feedbacks since I run the app only by myself and in my development environment. By the way... if there is something to do with "direct web access" (about webserver load), just say me. Currently, there is a 2s delay between page read.

It looks pretty good , but i'll stick to my XL(has more options) for now maybe later when you develop it more i might use it , main reason i will not use it is the huge loading time for my team , an lack of options , but as you said it is just at the start

Then it works, good news. Now it's time to begin the project ^^. If you have any suggestion, or any priority for such an app, I'm listening to you (and do what I can ). For the import speed... then I think it's not so much to drink a coffee ^^. I can set timer down from 2s to 1s or 0,5s between each page, but I have to get Icsulescu agreement first.

Could you set the timer to 1s and 0.5 s and send only me this 2 versions of the tool (you can upload them somewhere on mediafire.com or other website). I will check if the server is overloaded.

I couldnt menage to copy the data. When i click import it says "Unable to process the text"although i selected all and copy them in the players page. What could it be? Ah ? First of all, I assume that the functionality name is not very good. It's not "import copy/paste" but "import from clipboard". Then first part is about to copy data to clipboard : 1) use your webbrowser to go to the "players" page, or a "player" detail page on the RugbySpirit site. - Other pages do not work ! - have you turned the RugbySpirit site into english langage ? - which webbrowser do you use ? 2) when you are in the page, select all (ctrl-A) and copy (ctr+C) - the text of the page should be in the clipboard now - you can verify this point by making a paste (ctrl-V) in a notepad application. If it does not work, what is the data in the clipboard ? The second part is about RS Manager : 3) use the import copy-paste menu to open the import windows 4) click right now on the "import" button If there is always something wrong.. could it be : - the webbrowser you use (I only test with firefox) - encodage used by the webbrowser ? Perhaps when pasting data in notepad, and then copying from notepad the encodage would fit better for RS Manager ?...
